About Vehicle Economics

Type "auto loan calculator" into search and you'll get a hundred pages that all do the same thing: take three numbers, hand back a payment. That answer is correct and mostly useless on its own, because the real question is never just the payment.

The question behind the question

Is the lower payment actually cheaper once you count the interest? How much repair spend makes replacing the car the better move? When does an upside-down loan turn right side up? Vehicle Economics exists to answer the question people actually came with, not the one that's easiest to build a form around.

What a Vehicle Economics engine does differently

Every substantive tool here follows the same discipline: give you the number first, then break down what's driving it, surface the tradeoff if there is one, find the breakpoint where the answer would flip, and point you at the next question that number raises. The site's Keep vs Replace Car engine is the clearest example: it doesn't just say which option is cheaper, it tells you the exact repair cost that would make the other option win.

My Garage

Enter your vehicle, loan, and driving numbers once and reuse them across engines without retyping. It's optional, it's stored only in your own browser, and it never blocks a calculation, see My Garage.

What this site won't do

No account, no lender referral fees baked into the recommendation logic, no pretending a planning estimate is a guaranteed number. Where a real answer depends on your signed loan or lease contract, current market rates, or a professional's judgment, the site says so instead of inventing a figure. See Disclaimer and Methodology for exactly where those lines sit.
